Patuxent River Appreciation Days EventsOctober 10, 2008 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The Calvert Marine Museum annually presents the State of the River Summit. October 11-12, 2008 See schedule for detailed event times This year’s festival will take place on October 11th and 12th. The festival runs from 10am-5pm and includes science and history exhibits, children’s activities, a craft fair and food court, musical performances, an open house at the Calvert Marine Museum,and a Parade at 2:00 on Sunday. Free harbor cruises will be offered on board 2 historic vessels: the 109 year old bugeye, Wm. B. Tennison, the sailing skipjack the Nathan of Dorchester. Admission to the event is free; financial support is given by Calvert County Government, and monies brought in by the food court and craft show booth fees. Excess funds are returned to the community in the form of grants. Past recipients include the Calvert Farmland Land Trust, for purchase of a piece of endangered waterfront property, Appeal Elementary School, to help build a nature trail, and a local Eagle Scout project to build and mount osprey nesting platforms.
